Instrotech

The Optris PI Series is a range of high-precision, radiometric fixed thermal cameras developed for stationary thermography in industrial, research, and R&D environments. The portfolio includes long-wave infrared (LWIR) models for general temperature measurement, a dedicated G7 glass camera optimised at 7.9 µm, and short-wavelength thermal cameras designed for high-temperature and reflective metal surfaces. Select models are also suitable for monitoring laser-based processes.

Designed to capture both gradual temperature changes and rapid thermal events, the PI Series offers frame rates from approximately 32 to 125 Hz in the LWIR range and up to 1 kHz in short-wavelength variants. The Precision Line focuses on exceptional image quality, a small measurement field of view (MFOV), and highly accurate radiometric temperature data.

All PI Series fixed infrared cameras connect via USB 2.0 and operate with PIX Connect software, enabling thermal data acquisition, analysis, alarm configuration, and I/O mapping. Compact, rugged IP67-rated housings support a wide range of interchangeable optics, from wide-angle lenses to microscope optics, with manual focus for precise target alignment.

PI 05M

The Optris PI 05M is an ultra-short-wavelength infrared thermal camera engineered for high-precision, non-contact temperature measurement of extremely hot targets. Operating in the 0.50–0.54 µm spectral range, the PI 05M is ideally suited to applications where conventional infrared cameras struggle, such as molten metal processing and additive manufacturing using NIR or CO₂ lasers.

With a wide temperature measurement range from 900 °C to 2450 °C, the PI 05M enables accurate, stable temperature monitoring of super-hot materials and laser-based processes. Its short-wavelength design minimizes emissivity-related errors at very high temperatures, making it a reliable solution for pinpoint thermal analysis in advanced manufacturing and high-temperature industrial environments.

PI 08M

The Optris PI 08M is a compact infrared thermal camera developed to minimise measurement errors in NIR and CO₂ laser processing applications. Designed specifically for additive manufacturing and laser-based thermal processes, it provides reliable non-contact temperature measurement across a continuous range from 575 °C to 1900 °C.

By operating at a short measurement wavelength of 0.8 µm, the PI 08M benefits from higher effective emissivity at elevated temperatures and reduced sensitivity to laser radiation. This makes it well suited for accurate temperature monitoring in environments where conventional infrared cameras may be affected by laser interference.

PI 1M

The Optris PI 1M is a specialised infrared thermal camera designed for accurate temperature measurement of metals and metallic surfaces. By operating at a short measurement wavelength of 1 µm, it takes advantage of the higher emissivity of metals at this wavelength compared to conventional long-wave infrared ranges, resulting in more reliable and precise temperature readings.

In addition to high-quality thermal visualisation, the PI 1M features fast detector electronics with a response time of just 1 ms, enabling rapid detection of temperature changes in dynamic thermal processes. Typical applications include metallurgy, laser processing, and research involving metals, steel, and alloy materials, where fast response and measurement accuracy are critical.
