Product Information

he Optris Xi 320 MT is an Ethernet-enabled, fixed-mount thermal camera designed for precise, non-contact temperature measurement in extreme industrial environments. Operating in the mid-wavelength infrared spectrum at 3.9 µm, the camera is specifically engineered for accurate temperature measurement through flames and optical interference, making it ideal for high-temperature process monitoring in furnaces, kilns, combustion chambers and chemical reactors.

The Xi 320 MT measures temperatures from 475°C to 1700°C and delivers mid-resolution thermal imaging at 320 × 240 pixels. Its high-performance optics achieve a distance-to-spot-size ratio of up to 550:1 with 11° optics, enabling precise monitoring of small targets from a safe distance. A motorised, remotely adjustable focus ensures consistent image sharpness when working distances vary, even when imaging through flames.

The camera employs an uncooled focal plane array microbolometer detector with a 12 µm pixel pitch. This two-dimensional detector generates full radiometric thermal images, allowing clear visualisation of temperature distributions and immediate detection of hot spots and thermal irregularities. Compared to traditional line-scanner systems, this design provides greater robustness, lower maintenance and improved process visibility.

Engineered for continuous operation in harsh conditions, the Xi 320 MT features a compact, rugged housing with IP67 protection, offering resistance to dust, water and heat. Designed and manufactured in Germany, the camera is suitable for permanent installation in production lines and industrial monitoring systems where reliability and accuracy are critical.

For industrial connectivity, the Xi 320 MT supports fast Ethernet with frame rates up to 30 Hz, as well as a USB 2.0 interface at 5 Hz. Temperature values can be output directly via an analogue channel, while all signals are electrically isolated to ensure stable operation in industrial environments. Power options include 5–30 V DC, Power over Ethernet (PoE) or USB, with PoE significantly simplifying installation and reducing cabling requirements.

The Xi 320 MT is supplied with the PIX Connect software suite, which enables comprehensive thermal image visualisation, configuration, analysis and reporting. Advanced features include line scanning, image merging, automatic hot-spot detection and size-of-source effect correction using intelligent algorithms. A built-in web serverallows remote access and control of the camera via a standard web browser. Software development kits (SDKs) are available for system integrators developing customised monitoring, inspection or automation solutions.

A wide range of accessories extends the camera’s performance in extreme environments. Water-cooled housings allow operation at ambient temperatures of up to 250°C, while air purge systems with protective windows maintain optical clarity in dusty or smoky conditions. Additional accessories include mechanical mounting options, industrial connection cables and electrical interfaces.

With its ability to deliver accurate temperature measurement through flames, combined with robust construction and advanced connectivity, the Optris Xi 320 MT is a reference solution for mid-wavelength infrared imaging in metallurgical, ceramic and chemical process industries.
