Inspecta III

Sku: INSPECTA-III

Acoustic steam leak detection system for coal-fired boilers. Enables early leak detection, reduces downtime and supports predictive maintenance in power plants.

Product Information

The Inspecta III Acoustic Steam Leak Detection System is an advanced solution designed for the early detection and continuous monitoring of steam leaks in coal-fired boilers. Engineered for large-scale power generation facilities, the system can detect tube leaks as small as 1–2 mm, enabling maintenance teams to act before minor issues escalate into costly failures.

Using sophisticated acoustic monitoring technology, the system provides real-time data, trend analysis, and comprehensive diagnostics to support predictive maintenance strategies. This allows plant operators to plan and schedule boiler shutdowns more effectively, significantly reducing unplanned outages, repair time, and associated production losses.

With modular expansion, secure user access, and seamless integration with existing plant systems via industry-standard protocols, the Inspecta III is a reliable, scalable solution to improve boiler reliability, operational efficiency, and overall plant safety.

  • Very early detection of steam leaks and trend analysis of the potential tube leak progression, assisting in scheduling when best to plan a boiler shutdown.
  • Complete capture and logging of all field sensor data, enabling post-event analysis.
  • Strong system access security through a sub-system of various user levels: System Administrator, Supervisor and Operator. Each of these has a dedicated list of allowed operations.
  • Standard 19” rack mechanical equipment practice.
  • Modular expansion of up to 64 field sensor channels per system.
  • The Inspecta III system uses industry-standard communication protocols to connect to utility information and control systems and networks.
  • The standard communications output is serial RS-232. As an alternative output option, Modbus RS-485 may be utilised instead, please contact supplier for more information.
  • Recording of Trend progress for potential steam leak monitoring and analysis.
  • Backward compatibility connecting to existing sensor networks and plant facilities using the purpose designed Inspecta Plant Interface (PIU).
  • Digital inputs to enable relevant power station conditions to be input to Inspecta (e.g. soot blowing)
  • Digital outputs for audible alarm conditions such as critical (steam leak) and low level alarms.
  • Early Leak Detection
Detects steam tube leaks as small as 1–2 mm, allowing intervention before significant damage occurs.
  • Reduced Downtime
Minimises unplanned boiler outages by enabling planned maintenance and faster response times.
  • Lower Repair Costs
Prevents secondary damage to multiple tubes, significantly reducing repair scope and cost.
  • Improved Plant Reliability
Continuous monitoring and trend analysis support proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Enhanced Operational Efficiency
Helps maintain consistent power generation by avoiding unexpected shutdowns.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making
Comprehensive data logging and diagnostics enable accurate fault analysis and maintenance planning.
  • Scalable & Flexible System
Modular design allows expansion up to 64 sensor channels to suit different plant sizes.
  • Seamless Integration
Communicates with existing plant systems via standard protocols such as RS-232 and Modbus.
  • Increased Safety
Early detection reduces the risk of catastrophic boiler failures and hazardous operating conditions.
