Keller’s wide range of components available from Instrotech

Keller, leading manufacturer of measuring technology such as isolated pressure transducers and transmitters - represented in southern Africa by Instrotech - has possibly the widest range of transmitters, displays and switching components for light-industry manufacturing.

Keller, leading manufacturer of measuring technology such as isolated pressure transducers and transmitters - represented in southern Africa by Instrotech - has possibly the widest range of transmitters, displays and switching components for light-industry manufacturing.

Founder Hannes W. Keller, a graduate in physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), introduced the first piezoresistive pressure transducers with isolated measuring cell to the market in 1973.

In 2008, more than 1,1 million isolated measuring cells were produced. Of these, 250 000 were delivered to OEMs, 750 000 were used in the production of industrial pressure transmitters, and the rest were distributed among the 500 or so other standard products.

The range available from Instrotech ranges from low cost, low range, digital and programmable pressure transmitters to digital pressure displays – with switch and data logging capability. Applications are vastly diverse:

  • Series 41X - fixed low range pressure transmitter for
  • Marine diesel engine construction - miscellaneous pressure monitoring and
  • Measurement and test engineering – pressure monitoring of paper testing.
  • Series PD 41X - fixed low range differential pressure transmitter for the aviation industry – monitoring the hydraulic oil filter pressure in the Airbus aircraft.
  • Series 33X - high accuracy digital and analogue output transmitters with such diverse applications as:
  • Plant engineering – vapour pressure measurement in closed milk tanks
  • Automotive - transmission testing of engines on test benches
  • Mining – hydraulic pressure monitoring of mining applications
  • Electronics – monitoring of SF6 switches for gas density calculations
  • Aviation – monitors cabin pressure (oxygen masks) and airflow on plane profiles
  • Machine building – monitors and controls hydraulic pressure of press brakes
  • Measurement and test engineering – pressure monitoring or test engines for Formula 1 car engines
  • Measurement and test engineering – pressure monitoring of paper testing
  • Series 35X - high accuracy flush diaphragm digital and analogue output transmitters with such diverse applications as:
  • Medical technology – control and measurement of protein filtrations
  • Chemical industry – pressure monitoring in autoclaves of bioreactors during sterilization
  • LEO 2 digital pressure gauge for measuring and test engineering hydraulic scales and measuring the force of the hydro chuck and engine rpm.
  • LEO 3 digital pressure gauge for measuring and test engineering of display gas pressure with 4 – 20 mA output.
  • LEO Record digital data logging pressure gauge for:
  • Plant engineering - pressure measurement of leakage in beer tanks
  • Water management – water and gas pipeline network analysis to optimize the supply network
  • Chemical industry – measurement of gas pressure
  • dV-2-PS digital pressure gauge with switch options for:
  • Hydraulics/pneumatics – monitoring gas spring pressure
  • Medicine/surgery – force/pressure monitoring preventing too strong elongation of the spinal column during surgery
  • Medical technology – oxygen tank pressure monitoring for measuring the bottle pressure
  • Measuring and test engineering – pressure measurement in injection moulding (measures coolant pressure); determines the CO2 content in liquids; measures the residual moisture in concrete floors
