Introduction
Instrotech (Pty) Ltd was formed in 1981 to produce and distribute high quality process control instrumentation and industrial electronics. Our object was to source primary sensors such as loadcells, pressure & flow transmitters and digital encoders from well known European and North American companies then manufacture the complimentary industrial electronic devices ourselves.

Our advanced R&D labs design cutting edge products in process control instrumentation from digital indicators, weighing electronics, din-rail mount signal conditioners to a range of CALOG CALIBRATORS and RALLYTIME GPS motor sport timing equipment. Our acoustics lab have designed and manufactured the INSPECTA FFT leak detection systems which are installed on gassifiers, oxygen plants and power station boilers in South Africa, Germany, Australia, Turkey, India, Malasia and China.

CALOG calibrators are a group of rugged, hand-held, precision devices for mA loop calibration, process calibration including frequency & counts, thermocouple temperature calibration, RTD calibration, pressure calibration and the unique CALOG LOADCELL which can be used for loadcell evaluation, insulation tests and field calibration. From a broad experience of using loadcells and weighing electronics in the process control environment Instrotech has designed and manufactured weigh indicators and loadcell transmitters, both din-rail and fieldmount, for over twenty years. These have successfully been installed in many factories, particularly the food industry, for Nestle, Unilever, Coca Cola and SAB Miller to name a few. These products have also been namebranded for such well known companies as Avery Berkel in the UK and Weightronics in USA. The latest 6004 loadcell transmitter can also do beltweighing, dynamometer, loss-of-weight, bag-filling, throughput and batching.

There are twenty basic models of digital indicators including inputs for process, temperature, frequency/counting, quadrature, time, serial, BCD, loadcell, dynamometer and beltweigher. Options, either in software or hardware, include up to four relay or photomos setpoints, analogue or digital retransmission, integration and linearisation. The standard size is 48x96 but mini indicators and extra-large displays are also manufactured. Namebranding is available to larger customers and special digital indicators can be designed.

Level and Flow
Instrotech manufactures a displacement level transmitter using a solid PTFE displacer suspended from a loadcell with a unique overload mechanism to prevent damage. This displacement level transmitter is suitable for level measurement in mining flotation cells as well as density and interface measurement. Keller submersible pressure transmitters are available with our linearised 'S' curve digital indicators for horizontal cylindrical tanks. We supply Kobold German made flowmeters and flow transmitters from geared flowmeters to calorific flow transmitters. The USA made Senix ultrasonic level transmitters can be used for a variety of level and open channel flow applications.

Accoustic Leak detection systems
In 1984 we produced our first acoustic leak detection system for boiler tube leak detection on large coal-fired power stations. This system uses up to 32 specially designed microphones around the boiler for early warning and localisation of tube leaks. The INSPECTA-FFT is now fitted to power stations, oxygen plants and gassifiers world-wide. The latest systems have SCADA and internet access. Encoder Rotary encoders of SIKO operate according to the optical or magnetic sensing principle. Incremental pitches of a code disk are gathered by an opto-electronic or magnetic sensing unit and converted into electronic pulses. The measured output signals serve for computing the angle of rotation. Combined with matching follower electronics, angles, distances and speeds can be measured. Angle encoders, also known as absolute rotary encoders, measure angles of rotation absolutely and directly. They are suitable for a wide range of highly specialised and demanding areas of use.
